Background of the seminar

You want to learn the basic practices of Regenerative Agriculture? You are a farmer or you will be a farmer and you want to implement regenerative practices? Then join the 4-Day Seminar with Richard Perkins.

Richard Perkins is one of the foremost farmer and teacher of Regenerative Agriculture. He established the Ridgedale Farm, the northern most permaculture farm (at 59° in Sweden www.ridgedalepermaculture.com) as a high quality local food producer and pioneering educational site. He has also worked on varied farm and project design and implementation projects from CSA production to whole-farm planning.

The Farm “Helle Hof” is a very good example for small scale regenerative farming in Germany. Since 2018 the Farmer Jasper de Wit is converting the traditional farm into a more regenerative one, after he took a training at the Farm of Richard Perkins in Sweden. Jasper implemented a Market Garden, Pastured Egg Mobiles and Agroforestry elements in the orchard.

Key Themes of the seminar

Holistic Management

Holistic Management clarifies the context as the very foundation in all our decisions. It deals with the complexity of making decisions regarding our farm and the interdependence of ecology, economy and human relationships. In the seminar we focus on the basics of Holistic Management and the application on grazing & grasslands.


Agroforestry is a vital component in the future of broad acre land regeneration. By understanding the functions of woody systems in different parts of our landscapes we can clarify the agroforestry assemblies suited to our land base. Virtually every farm on the planet could benefit from more woody crops, and so we look at design considerations, planting and management strategies and all the additional yields woody agriculture offers.

Integrated Animal systems

Pasture based production is vital to farms of the future, as there are no shorter chains of production than converting sunlight to flesh via grasses. Yet so little emphasis and understanding has been placed on grass physiology and ecology. Pastured Egg Mobiles, Broilers and turkeys are fantastic profitable small farm enterprises that play a very important role in rekindling tired pastures and that can easily be scaled up and down accordingly.

Market Garden

The Market Garden approach, is good way of producing high quality vegetables on a small piece of land and regenerating soil fertility and local biodiversity at the same time. Including No-Dig and Biointensive spacing, this concept fits well into a small scale economically profitable enterprise.

Please arrive on Wednesday 06th November at the farm, because we will start early at 9am the 07th November. So there is enough time to arrive and having a dinner together.

The nearest train station is in Godelheim. It takes 7 min by walk to the farm.


We serve a balanced diet. We supply farm grown products and organic food that we buy in. The course is fully catered, with dinner the evening of arrival and breakfast before you leave.


We have single and multi-bedrooms close to the farm. Caravan on site is possible.
