Farm Check

Germany needs more organic producers and farms. While the market for organic products is growing by about 10 percent in the past year, the agricultural area under organic farming only grew by 5.3 percent. Because of this there is a growing proportion of organic products being imported to the German market from other countries. Ergo, German agriculture lost valuable market share. Therefore, the project www.bio-offensive.de intends to counteract this trend and attract more businesses to switch to organic farming. "Bio-offensive" aims at demonstrating farms what chances the "organic" market has to offer. Producers who are willing to converse their farms to organic production get support and advice. Also, farmers and retailers are given opportunities to connect.

The Association of Chambers of Agriculture (VLK), together with the Foundation Ecology & Agriculture is responsible for the project. The German Farmers Association (DBV) and the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) provide advice.
