Bio'Rhin: Comparing Farm Performance in the Upper Rhine region

Logo: Interreg Oberrhein

In the Upper Rhine region, like in many other European regions, organic farming developed relatively slowly. Hence the gap between rising consumer demand and the limited range of local products available is growing. In this context, the question arises: How can organic farming be strengthened in the region?

Therefore, several German and French institutions of organic farming in the Upper Rhine region led by the "Association of organic farmers in Alsace" (OPABA) founded a French-German network of organic farms. The cooperation aims to capture the economic situation of some 100 organic farms to be analyzed by benchmarking and to improve their result. The project started in September 2009 and runs until August 2012

The project is financed by the European Union, the Ministry for Food and Rural Areas of Baden-Württemberg and the Région Alsace.
